MEET OUR GUEST ARTISTS: DanCe fluX 2020

Dominique “B-Boy Ballet” Alexis is a technically informed artist trained in various degrees of street dances, social grooves, and contemporary techniques. He holds a Dance BFA and Drama Minor from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and is certified in Bartenieff Fundamentals.

From a young age, Alexis learned rhythm & groove from dancing to soul music with his mother. He first entered the environment of a dance studio at the age of 17. Prior to studio training, Alexis mimicked dancers from popular television programs like Soul Train, box office dance movies from the 80s such as Beat Street and Breaking 2, and pop music videos on MTV. Alexis began learning street dancing in the streets and clubs of Texas and North Carolina. Being that street dances and social grooves are virtually uncharted territories for technically sound dance educators, Alexis has had the privilege of providing lecture demonstrations and studio workshops in both the US and the UK.

Alexis has made television appearances on local and national networks, and has performed on stage as both a contemporary and commercial artist. Some of his credits are BET, Universal Studios, and Samsung. Although rooted in the south, Alexis has been fortunate to share his talents, skills, and knowledge in amazing cities across the globe such as New York, Atlanta, London, Orlando, and Los Angeles. In his personal and professional life, Alexis lives by the code  “teaching as a student and learning as a professional.
